I completed a 3-month work experience placement at BBC Radio Lincolnshire during my first year at university. During my placement I assisted the producers of the breakfast show (7-10am) with a number of tasks. This included greeting guests, assisting presenters, taking calls from listeners and screening them to find people to be featured on the show. I was also able to attend the morning news meeting and pitch ideas.
I really enjoyed my time at BBC Radio Lincolnshire and felt I learned a lot. It was great to be able to experience broadcast journalism so early in my studies. Having undertaken a lot of PR and marketing roles, it is great to have experience from the other side of the press release to understand what happens on the other end.
